TDK Bluetooth Products
TDK offers a range of industrial and consumer Bluetooth products for our customers. The
products that we feel are most beneficial are discussed in this document.
Blu2i BISM (Bluetooth Intelligent Serial Module)
Most electronic equipment that gathers data has a serial
port for offloading that data. This generally requires a
hard wire connection by means of a serial cable. The
TDK BISM is a module that can be incorporated into an
existing design to provide a wireless serial connection
between two devices. This allows for the remote
gathering of data as well as eliminating cumbersome wires. The module is also
programmable using modem style Hayes AT commands. This allows for greater freedom
in altering the function of the BISM. The module has 2 analog lines configurable as input
or output and allows for simultaneous voice and data transmission. The BISM module
also has a built in antenna.
Blu2i PCMCIA Card
This product is similar to the BISM except that instead of
being an on board design the PCMCIA card fits directly
into an existing PCMCIA slot. This card is also fully
programmable using Hayes AT commands. All of the
software stack is built into the card and no external
drivers or software are required.
Go Blue USB Adaptor
This device connects to the USB port of a laptop or desktop and can
be used as a transmitter/receiver to communicate with other
Bluetooth devices (e.g. partner with BISM module). This product
does not have the built in software stack and requires additional
drivers. The drivers are included on a CD that comes with the
adaptor. This product can also be used to communicate with any
other Bluetooth device, industrial or commercial.
PC Card +
This card is identical to the Go Blue USB Adaptor except that it attaches to the PCMCIA
slot of a laptop or desktop. The PC Card can be used as a transmitter/receiver and comes
with all of the necessary drivers.

All of these products are still under development at this time. More information will be
provided as it becomes available.
TDK Bluetooth Developer’s Kit
This product contains all of the materials needed to incorporate the TDK BISM into an
existing or new design. The kit contains the following:
1 BISM module
1 Motherboard
1 Power supply for motherboard
1 Serial cable
1 Go Blue USB adaptor
2 CDs with necessary software
By taking advantage of the dev kit most users are able to create a working prototype of
their product in a day’s time.
