The highly integrated miniPROFET (for fully PPRROOtected FFEETT) switch incorporates a broad range of
smart functions that make miniPROFETs ideal for the widest variety of automotive and industrial applications. miniPROFETS
are designed to be controlled directly from a single µC output pin. With a typical quiescent current of less than 10 µA , they
are positioned as the high-side switches of choice for battery-powered systems. Their built-in safety features protect both
the device and the application.

APPLICATIONS
miniPROFETs are suited to automotive applications such as gen-
eral body control modules, instrument clusters, dashboard lighting and motor cotrols.
Industrial applications include relay and fuse replacement, lamps, solenoids, DC motors,
power control in appliances and portable tools, various automated designs in robotics,
and industrial control.
LOW QUIESCENT CURRENT SPARES BATTERIES
This latest generation ofsmall, intelligent, high-side power
switches features new low power ratings to significantly prolong battery life. Low current
consumption in the on state combined with a typical current consumpion of 10 µA in the
off state mate miniPROFETs ideal for battery powered applications.

SHORT CIRCUIT PROTECTION
The most important protective function of a miniPROFET is to
safeguard the application from destruction in the event of a short circuit. This is achieved
through a combination of both current limitation and thermal shutdown in the event of
excess temperature. By combining switching and protective functions in a single de-
vice, miniPROFETs eliminate the need for fuses, thus presenting a more cost effective and
robust alternative to standard relay and fuse solutions.

miniPROFET intelligent power switchescontain a DMOS
power transistor plus CMOS logic circuitr y for complete, built-in protection. This new
family offers full protection against overloads, overvoltages, shor t circuits, excess
temperatures, loss of ground, loss of power supply and electrostatic discharge.
miniPROFET switches also include protection against dynamic overvoltages such
as load dump, and inductive load turn-off without the need for any additional
components.
