50FY APPLICATION INFORMATION
The graph shows the extremes at which all
50FY sensors will operate and release (re-
gardless of temperature and voltage), as
well as the typical operate and release
points at 24°C (75°F). It applies to all 50FY
sensors actuated with 51FY7, 52FY11, and
52FY15 magnets.
The axis of the magnet should be parallel
with the axis of the 50FY. All ferromagnetic
material must be at least 12,7mm (0.5 inch)
away from the sensing face of the sensor
and any part of the magnet, or operating
characteristics will change. For special ap-
plications, MICRO SWITCH will help you to
determine these characteristics.
For maximum reliability, despite temper-
ature drift and voltage variations, the gap
between sensing face of the sensor and the
magnet should be 1,27mm (0.050 inch) or
less (for slide-by actuation).
MAGNETIC ACTUATION
A 50FY proximity sensor may be actuated
by the South pole of any permanent magnet
or electromagnet with sufficient flux density.
To simplify application, MICRO SWITCH of-
fers permanent magnets for use with 50FY
sensors.
MAGNETS
MICRO SWITCH can supply permanent bar
magnets and self-mounting actuators to op-
erate 50FY sensors. See graph 2 for mag-
netic characteristics.
