Fairchild Semiconductors LM 101A, 201A, 301A, General Purpose Operational Amplifiers GENERAL DESCRIPTION The 101A and 301A are General Purpose monolithic Operational Amplifiers constructed using the Fairchild Planar epitaxial process. These integrated circuits are intended for applications requiring low input offset voltage or low input offset current. The accuracy of long interval integrators, timers and sample and hold circuits is improved due to the low drift and low bias currents of the 101A and 301A. Frequency response may be matched to the individual circuit need with one external capacitor. The absence of latch-up coupled with internal short circuit protection make the 101A, 201A and 301A virtually foolproof. The 101A, 301A are pin compatible with the popular A709, A741, .A748 and A777. FEATURES Low offset current and voltage, Low offset current drift. Low bias current. Short circuit protected. Low power consumption. Advanced processing techniques make possible an order of magnitude reduction in input currents, and a redesign of the biasing circuitry reduces the temperature drift of input current. FEATURES Offset voltage 3mV maximum over temperature. tnput current 100 nA maximum over temperature. Offset current 20 nA maximum over temperature. Guaranteed drift characteristics. Offsets guaranteed over entire common mode and supply voltage ranges. Slew rate of 10V/us as a summing amplifier. This amplifier offers many features which make its application nearly foolproof: overload protection on the input and output, no latch-up when the common mode range is exceeded, freedom from oscitations and compensation with a single 30 pF capacitor. !t has advantages over internally compensated amplifiers in that the frequency compensation can be tailored to the particular application. For example, in low frequency circuits it can be overcompensated for increased stability margin. Or the compensation can be optimised to TYPICAL APPLICATIONS give more than a factor of ten improvements in high frequency performance for most applications. The LM101A series offers the features of the M101, which makes its application nearly foolproof. In addition, the device provides better accuracy and lower noise in high impedance circuitry. The low input currents also make it particularly well suited for long interval integrators or timers, sample and hold circuits and low frequency waveform generators. Further, replacing circuits where matched transistor pairs buffer the inputs of conventional iC op amps, it can give lower offset voltage and drift at a lower cost. The LM201A is identical to the LM101TA, except that the LM201A has its performance guaranteed over a 25C to 85C temperature range, instead of 5C to 125C. For operating at elevated temperatures, devices in the TO-5 package must be derated based on a thermal resis- tance of 150C/W, junction to ambient, or 45C/W, junction to case. Note 2: For supply voltages less than +15V, the absolute maximum input voltage is equal to the supply voltage. Note 3: Continuous short circuit is allowed for case temperatures to +125C and ambient temperatures to + 75C. Note 4: These specifications apply for +5V < Vs < +20V and 55C < T, < 125C, unless otherwise specified. With the LM201A, however, all temperature specifications ere limited to 25C < T, < 85C.
