1. SCOPE
1.1. Content
This specificat ion covers performance, tests and qual it y r equirements f or the Ty c o E lectroni c s MT A -|100 connect or system. Thi s system is m ass terminated usi ng insulati on displac ement technology on
.100 inch centerli nes and mates with .025 i nc h square posts providi ng a r eliabl e int er c onnec ti on
between wir es and posts mounted on printed c irc uit boar ds. The standard system i s availabl e in 2
through 28 posi ti ons. The MT A - 100 c onnec tor system i s designed t o be terminated to 28 AWG t o 22
AWG wire, tin plated UL style 1007, 1061 or wir e whic h specifies PVC i nsul ati on with temper ature
rating compati ble wit h specified operat ing t emper atures, see Fi gur e 4. Wir e shal l meet appli c ati on
requi r ements specified i n A pplication Spec ificati on 114- 1019. Insul ati on diamet er s are: .050 i nc h|m aximum out si de diamet er for mass termination and . 060 inch maximum outsi de diamet er for singl e
termination.
1.2. Qualification
When tests are performed on the subject pr oduc t l ine, pr oc edur es specified in Figure 1 shall be used.|Al l inspections shal l be performed usi ng the appl icable inspection pl an and pr oduc t drawing.

4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1. Quali ficati on Testing
A. Sample Selection
Sampl es shall be prepared in acc or danc e with appl icable I nstr uc ti on S heets and shall be selec ted
at random from c ur r ent production. Test gr oup 1 shal l consi st of 5, 6 posit ion standard tin- lead
plated samples and 5, 6 positi on gold plated sampl es. A ll samples shall be termi nated to the
m aximum wire si z e and mounted on printed c irc uit boar d P N 93- 660017 ( see Figure 5). Test
group 2 shall consist of 3, 10 posit ion standard tin- lead plated sampl es ter minat ed to 28 AWG
wire and mounted on pr int ed c irc uit boar d P N 93- 660652; and 3, 10 posi ti on standar d ti n- lead
plated samples terminat ed to 22 AWG wire and mounted on printed c irc uit boar d P N 93- 660651
(see Fi gur e 5) . Test gr oup 3 shal l consi st of 3, 10 posit ion gol d plat ed sampl es ter minat ed to 22
AWG wire and mounted on printed circ uit boar d P N 93- 660017. Test gr oup 4 shal l consi st of 5
unm ounted 24 posit ion standard ti n- lead plated sampl es ter minat ed to the maximum wire siz e.
Test group 5 shal l consi st of 6, 10 posit ion standard tin- lead plated sampl es ter minat ed to 28
AWG wire; 6, 10 posi ti on standar d tin- lead plated sampl es ter minat ed to 24 AWG wire; and 6, 10
position standard ti n- lead plated sampl es ter minat ed to 22 AWG wire. All sampl es shall be
unm ated and unmounted. Test gr oup 6 shal l consi st of 5, 6 position . 100 inch fric tion lock ti n- lead
plated headers.
B. T est S equenc e
Quali ficati on inspection shall be verified by t esting sam ples as spec ified in Figure 2.
4.2. Requalificati on Testi ng
If c hanges significant ly affec ti ng form , fi t or func ti on ar e made to the pr oduc t or manufac turing
process, product assurance shall coordinat e r equalificat ion t esting, c onsi sting of all or par t of t he
ori ginal testing sequence as determined by development /product, quality and r eliability engineering.
4.3. Acceptance
Acceptance is based on verificati on that the product meets requirements of F igure 1. Failures
att r ibut ed to equi pment, test setup or operator deficiencies shall not di squal ify pr oduc t. When product
fai lure oc c ur s, c or r ec ti ve action shall be t ak en and sampl es resubm it ted for qualificat ion. Testi ng to
confirm cor r ec ti ve action is requir ed before resubmittal .
4.4. Quali ty Confor manc e Inspection
The applicable quality inspection plan will specify the sampling acceptable quality level to be used.|Dimensi onal and func ti onal requirements shall be in accor danc e with the applicable product drawing
and this specificat ion.
