Evaluation/Development Tool Description
Narrow-band transceiver for multiple standards
The AX5 043 is a true single chip, na rrow-band, ultra-low-power ASK a n d
FSK RF transceiver for the 27 MHz to 1050 MHz frequency bands. It offe rs
the unique com bination o f ultra -lo w power consumption for transmit a nd
receive operation co m bined with highe s t se nsitivity and h igh se le ctivity. A
link b u d g e t of 143 dB a t 1 kbps is achieve d, if the built-in fo rward e rror
correctio n (FEC) is use d this can be exte nded to 14 6 dB with o ut e xtra
ex ternal com pone nts . The AX5043 works perfe ctly down to 1 kbps in a
6.25 kHz channe l. Though a T C XO is re com m e nded fo r such ope ratio n , the
AX5043 can a lso be operate d with a norma l XTAL if the necessa ry
precautions a re take n into a ccount.
Designed for low power and direct battery operation
An inte g ra ted voltage regula tion system allows the direct use o f ba tterie s
and short sta rt-u p tim e s e nable tim e- a nd e nergy-efficient protocols .
Transm it powe r a n d receive cha racte ris tics d o n o t cha nge over the sup p ly
voltage range of 1.8 - 3.6 V. This m a ke s the AX50 43 idea l fo r batte ry
powe red p o rtable applica tio n s . AX5043 featu re s a lo west powe r wa ke -up
clo ck a nd tim e r, which typica lly co usm e 500 nA, allo wing it to auto no m o u s ly
handle wak e -on-radio cycling.
Advanced receiver, transmitter and radio controller
The AX5 043 sup p o rts FSK, MSK, 4-FSK, GFSK, GMSK, AFSK and ASK m odula tio ns. In tra n s m it m o d e a ll m odula tio ns a re
shape d . For FSK gaussian filters with BT=0.3 or BT =0.5 are available to me e t the m o st s tringent regulato ry re q u irem e nts.
Power ra m p ing ca n be configured witho ut restrictions. Max im um output power level is 16 dBm . T he co n fig urable packet
engin e s u p p o rts a wide range of p a cket forma ts that are ha ndle d without m icrocontroller interve ntio n.
Development kit comes with productivity enhancing complete development tool suite
AX5043 is sup p o rted by the de ve lopm e nt k it DVK-2. This is a com ple te a nd fle xible ready-to -go solution for e asy te sting,
eva lua tion and de ve lopm e nt of O N Se m icond u cto rs R F ICs. It is suite d for real performa n ce te sts using p ro fe s s ional la b
equip m e nt, as well as for applicatio n code deve lo p m e nt. The DVK-2 is base d on the AX8052F100 MC U and offe rs both the
AX-R adio Lab GUI as well as the advance d graphic inte g ra ted deve lopm e n t e nvironm e nt AX8052-IDE to g e ther with the fre ely
usable SDC C C-com p ile r to go with it.
