followed by additional suffixes. Refer to Ill. 19.
GENERAL CHARACTER AND USE:
* This product is a switching type power supply incorporating semiconductor
components in the primary circuit. It is provided with input and output
terminals for connection to the end use equipment. The power supply has been
investigated to the Standard for Information Technology Equipment including
Electrical Business Equipment, CAN/CSA C22.2 No.60950-00, UL60950, CAN/CSA
C22.2 No. 950-95, UL1950 Third Edition, UL 1012 Standard for Power Supplies,
UL 544 Standard for Medical and Dental Equipment and UL 2601-1 Standard for
Medical Electrical Equipment.
NOMENCLATURE BREAKDOWN:
Model number coding breakdown is specified in Ill. 19, for VI-200 Series
Model Nos. VI-ABC-DE-XX and the IP-200 Series, Model Nos. IP-ABC-DE-XX.
ELECTRICAL RATINGS:
Input - Input voltage and power are given by positions B and E in Model
number respectively, as indicated in nomenclature breakdown.
Output - Output voltage and power are given by positions C and E in
Model number respectively, as indicated in nomenclature breakdown.
ENGINEERING CONSIDERATIONS (NOT FOR UL REPRESENTATIVE USE):
For use only in or with equipment where the acceptability of the
combination is determined by Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
The transformer construction meets the requirements of Paragraph 19.4E;
2 layers of insulation meet the 3500 V dielectric voltage withstand.
Insulation diagram see Ill. 21. Insulation creepage and clearance within
device does not meet spacing requirements of UL 2601-1, Table XVI without the
use of potting compound. This potting compound was considered reinforced
insulation.

Conditions of Acceptability - When installed in the end-use equipment,
the following are among the considerations to be made.
1. These components have been judged on the basis of the required
spacings in the Information Technology Equipment including Electrical Business
Equipment, CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 60950-00, UL60950, CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 950-95,
UL1950 Third Edition, Medical and Dental Equipment, UL-544 Power Supplies, UL-
1012, UL 2601-1 Medical Electrical Equipment.
2. The power supply should be installed in compliance with the
enclosure, mounting, spacing, casualty, and segregation requirements of the
ultimate application.
3. The baseplate temperature should be measured in the end product. The
85°C temperature should not be exceeded.
4. Secondary circuits have not been investigated for secondary
interconnection. Should outputs be connected in series or parallel in end-use
applications, additional evaluation will be necessary for increased levels of
voltage or current/power.
5. The unit should be located within an overall enclosure so that
uninsulated current carrying parts are suitably enclosed.
6. The input and output terminals are not acceptable for field
connections and are only intended for connection to mating connectors of
internal wiring inside the end-use machine. The acceptability of these and
the mating connectors relative to secureness, insulating materials, and
temperature should be considered.
7. The "Gate In" and "Gate Out" terminals are in low voltage primary
connected circuits.
8. Leakage current measurements should be performed in the end use
application.
9. For Medical and Dental and Medical Electrical applications,
accompanying documentation shall be provided, see Ill. 20. Fuses not relied
upon for abnormal testing.

10. All units must have an external fuse provided in the end use

General - The design, shape, and arrangement of parts shall be as
illustrated except where variations are specifically described.

b - On printed wiring boards, their connectors, and board mounted electrical
components, wired on the load side of line filters or similar voltage-peak
reduction networks and components, a min spacing of 0.023 in (0.58 mm) plus
0.0002 in (0.005 mm) per volt peak shall be maintained over the surface and
through air between uninsulated live parts and any other uninsulated live
parts and any other uninsulated conductive part (live or dead) not of the same
polarity.
Marking - All markings are located as described herein and ink-stamped
on the enclosure.
Sealants - Provided on internal components for limiting vibration, Type
ECCOSIL SC71 by Emerson and Cuming or Type NUVA-SIL 88 by Loctite. Not relied
upon for securement of components.

Internal Wiring - Unless otherwise specified, all internal wiring is
Recognized Component appliance wiring material (AVLV2), rated 300 V, 105°C
min, and shall be PVC, TFE, PTFE, FEP or neoprene insulated, or shall be
surface marked "VW-1".
Mechanical Assembly - Unless otherwise stated, all enclosure parts and
component mounting assemblies are secured by welding or thread forming screws
or machine screws provided with nuts and lockwashers.
Soldered Connections - All soldered connections are mechanically secured
before soldering. When hand soldered, leads on printed circuit boards are
bent over prior to soldering.
Exception - Printed circuit board assemblies that are wave soldered.
Electrical Tubing and Sleeving - Recognized Component tubing (YDPU2)
and/or sleeving (UZFT2) rated 300 V, 105°C minimum, VW-1 min.
Printed Wiring Boards - Unless otherwise specified, all boards are
Recognized Components (ZPMV2), suitable for the solder time and temperature
used by the manufacturer, and having a minimum flame rating of 94V-1 and an
operating temperature rating of at least 130°C.
Corrosion Protection - Parts are of corrosion resistant material or
plated or painted as corrosion protection.
Tolerances - Unless specified otherwise, all indicated dimensions are
nominal.
MODEL DIFFERENCES:
Model No. VI-260-CV is the basic unit covered by this report.
All other models and specials are similar except for output ratings and
where described.
Models VI-6101 and VI-6002 are similar to Models VI-261-CV and VI-260-CV,
respectively except for the deletion of opto-couplers U2 and U3, and secondary
control circuits.
Models VI-260-06, VI-B60-06, VI-261-02 and VI-B61-02 are the same as
Models VI-260-CV, VI-B60-CV, VI-261-CV and VI-B61-CV, respectively except they
are provided with an additional heat sink, measuring approx 1.95 x 2.4 x
4.6 in overall, with fins provided.
Models VIB-6001 and VIB-6003 are similar to models VI-B60-CW and VI-B60-
CV respectively except for deletion of optocoupler U2 and some secondary
control circuitry.
Model VI-261-CU series are similar to Model VI-260-CV except that output
components are modified to provide higher output ratings.
