Description
SP101 series modules are pipe-style surge sup-
pressors designed to help protect a variety of
process measurement and control equipment.
These modules include common mode and dif-
ferential mode suppression with RFI/EMI filtering.
The SP101 is commonly used to help protect
two-wire field-mount transmitters, field sensors,
and communication devices. The SP101-3012 is
applicable to 12V DC, 10V DC signal lines and
RS485 networks. The SP101-3024 is applicable
to 4-20mA loops, level and differential pressure
transmitters, RS232 and 24V DC power ports.
The SP101 incorporates multi-stage suppression
design and helps protect three signal/data lines.
They use hybrid technology with silicon ava-
lanche technology for fast response and gas
arrestor tubes for high current capacity.
SP101 modules are housed in a convenient
threaded 1/2 inch NPT stainless steel housing.
The housing is threaded at both ends and the
unit is hermetically sealed. Grounding is achieved
through direct wiring.

Description
SP102 series modules are DIN-rail mount, surge
suppressors designed to help protect a variety of
telecom and process control equipment.
The SP102 incorporates mult-stage suppression
design and helps protect two or four signal lines
depending on the model selected. It uses hybrid
technology consisting of silicon avalanche tech-
nology for fast response and gas arrestor tubes
for high current capacity. See the specifications
for typical applications of each module.
SP102 modules are packaged in a compact
(0.6 inch wide) aluminum housing. Grounding is
achieved through the integrated mounting clip
to a DIN rail, the screw post on top of the mod-
ule. The SP102 inherently grounds to the DIN
rail. Pluggable module terminals simplify field
installation and replacement without disturbing
existing wiring.

Description
SP103 series modules are DIN-rail mount, surge
suppressors with integrated EMI/RFI filtering.
These suppressors help protect 120V (SP103-
2120) or 220V (SP103-2220) AC-powered
devices. SP103 suppressors incorporate primary
and secondary transient suppression circuitry
with LED status indication. LED indication verifies
the integrity of the surge suppression capability
for your equipment. LED is off for “damaged”
suppression circuitry or loss of power. In addition,
these suppressors also include balanced EMI/RFI
filtering circuitry for an additional level of noise
immunity.
These modules are commonly used to interface
between a panel’s AC power source and the AC
power terminals on industrial measurement and
control instruments. These include PLC’s, DCS,
chart recorders, panel displays, motor controllers,
data loggers, AC powered signal conditioners,
and alarm modules. The suppressors are applica-
ble to any AC-powered device operating on 5A
AC rms or less.
The SP103 is packaged in a compact (0.8 inch
wide) aluminum housing. Grounding is achieved
using the integrated mounting clip to a DIN rail,
the screw post on top of module, or direct
wiring. The SP103 inherently grounds to the DIN
rail. Quick disconnect terminals make field instal-
lation and replacement easy without disturbing
existing wiring.
