@ Fully encapsulated Surface Mount design @ Higha @ Low external magnetic field @ Stable powdered iron cores @ High Self-resonant frequency design notes Toroidal inductors described in this brochure are manufactured af the highest quality raw materials utilizing powdered iron core mate- rial; they are provided as rectangular vertical standing units with surtace mount leads to realize maximum inductance per unit volume. These tordidal inductors are designed to provide the utmost in versatility for AFlow power applications in computers, filters, instru- ments, missiles, aircraft, business machines, communications equip- ment and similar type applications. They are designed for printed circuit board surface mount applications; lead design provides posi- tive standoff to allow flush cleaning of solder-flux residue from under the component atter the soldering operation. These inductors are designed and manufactured to obtain mini- mumdistributed capacity, maximum Q, and the highest self resonant frequency in the smallest possible package size. Phosphor-bronze surface mount leads are attached and the entire unitis encapsulated inthe housing with epoxy resin. Leads are tin-lead plated per MIL-P- 2 Miniature P>Q=7m< Q2=U2>30 Surface Mou AMIN Ke a FP aD BELOW P N TOROIDAL INDUCTORS 81728, semi-bright. Housing material is Vectra, a liquid crystal polymer plastic meeting the requirements of MIL-M-24519C. Vectra can be used continuously at 254C (489F), has a melt pointof 280C (538F), is inherently flame retardant and meets the flammability requirements of UL S94V-0, These toroidal inductors are designed to meet the applicable portions of Specification MIL-C-15305, Gradel, Class B. Tempera- ture coefficient of inductance is less than 400ppm"C over the operating temperature range of -55 to +125C., Inductors are capable of withstanding 500 DC @ 50 microamps applied between inductor to case. Standard inductance tolerance is +5% for values 2.0UH and above and 10% for inductances less than 2.0UH; however, units can be supplied to closer tolerances on special order. All measure- ments of inductance and Q are obtained at frequencies as speci- fied in Specification MIL-C-15305. Standard apparent inductance values are shown in the following tables. Since apparent induc- tance varies with AC/DC current values, each end application should be evaluated to ensure proper specification of inductance value, To assistin selecting optimal inductance during prototyping and breadboarding, toroid inductor kits are available. Inductance is measured on HP 42624 and 42844/428414 LCR Meters; Q is measured utilizing HP 43424 Q Meter; and self resonant frequency is obtained utilizing a HP 41954 Network Analyzer. Tabulated current ratings are those calculated to cause a 25C rise in case temperature. Marking consists of manufacturer's logo (EC*), part number, tenminal identification and date code of manufacture. All marking is applied by silkscreen process using blue epoxy paint in accordance with MIL-STD-130, to meet the permanency of identification required by MIL-STD-202, Method 215.
