CWDM MUX/DEMUX-4-2

Plug-in Module

The Finisar MUX/DEMUX-4-2 plug-in module is a passive optical

multiplexer/demultiplexer designed for metro access applications that represents the

state of the art in fiber optics design. The MUX/DEMUX-4-2 plu g-in module multiplexes

and demultiplexes four CWDM wavelength channels from a two-fiber circuit. Finisar’s

design allows the creation of cost-effective unidirectional network traffic rings or point-

to-point links.

Multiplexed wavelengths are interfaced to any of Finisar’s CWDM transceivers on the

equipment side. A grid of eight CW DM wavelengths is available from Finisar.

The MUX/DEMUX-4-2 plug-in module plugs into one half of a 1RU, 19” rack mount

chassis for simple installation and modularity. This Chassis based system allows a

network equipment manufact urer to add WDM capabilit y to any existing net work device

that supports GBIC and SFP interfaces.

Each equipment port of the MUX/DEMUX-4-2 plug-in module is color coded to match

the wavelength of Finisar’s CWDM transceiver. This allows ease of installation and

troubleshooting without having to remove the transceiver from the local equipm ent.

The Finisar MUX/DEMUX plug-in module delivers dramatic cost savings to network

equipment manufacturers, enabling them to develop metro access systems that are

lower in cost, easier to provision and simpler to operate.
