The multimode 50/125 graded
index fiber is widely used for various types of applications: data,
transmission, voice-video services.
Process
The fibers are manufactured using
the APVD process. This is a
deposition of Silicium dioxide and
germanium dioxide inside a silica
tube.
The Alcatel APVD has been
specifically developed for a mass
production of fibers with a high
level of reproducibility.
The fiber operates at both
wavelength regions 850 nm and
1300 nm.
They are produced and controlled
according to the international
standards :
IEC pub 793/2 for the product.
IEC pub 793/1 for the
measurement methods.
Effective Index of
Refraction
1.4820 at 850 nm.
1.4799 at 1300 nm.
