DEVICE DESCRIPTION
The ZRSM5060 uses Zetex SM8 package to provide
both regulator and supply monitor functions. This
small outline surface mount package is ideal for
applications where space saving is important.
The regulator section provides a fixed 5 volt
positive output supplying load current up to
200mA. The circuit features internal current
limit and thermal shutdown which makes the
device almost impossible to destroy. The
regulator shows performance characteristics
superior to other local voltage regulators. The
initial output voltage is maintained to within
2.5% with a quiescent current of typically
350µA. Line and load regulation is improved
compared with alternative devices.
The supply monitor provides a reset threshold
of 4.6 volts and so operates as an ideal partner
to the 5 volt regulator. The circuit includes a
precise voltage reference and a comparator with
built in hystresis to prevent erratic operation.The
devices feature open collector outputs capable
of sinking at least 10mA.
Operation of the supply monitor is guaranteed
with supply voltages from one volt upwards.
From one volt up to the 4.6 volt threshold level
the output is held low providing a power on
reset function. Should the established supply
voltage drop below the threshold level at any
time, then the output will again pull low.
