damage to property. The notices referring to your personal safety are highlighted in the manual by a safety alert
symbol, notices referring only to property damage have no safety alert symbol. These notices shown below are
graded according to the degree of danger.
DANGER
indicates that death or severe personal injury will result if proper precautions are not taken.
WARNING
indicates that death or severe personal injury may result if proper precautions are not taken.
CAUTION
indicates that minor personal injury can result if proper precautions are not taken.
NOTICE
indicates that property damage can result if proper precautions are not taken.
If more than one degree of danger is present, the warning notice representing the highest degree of danger will
be used. A notice warning of injury to persons with a safety alert symbol may also include a warning relating to
property damage.

Security information
Siemens provides products and solutions with industrial security functions that support the
secure operation of plants, systems, machines and networks.
In order to protect plants, systems, machines and networks against cyber threats, it is
necessary to implement – and continuously maintain a holistic, state-of-the-art industrial
security concept. Siemensproducts and solutions constitute one element of such a concept.
Customers are responsible for preventing unauthorized access to their plants, systems,
machines and networks. Such systems, machines and components should only be
connected to an enterprise network or the internet if and to the extent such a connection is
necessary and only when appropriate security measures (e.g. firewalls and/or network
segmentation) are in place.
Additionally, Siemensguidance on appropriate security measures should be taken into
account. For additional information on industrial security measures that may be
implemented, please visit
https://www.siemens.com/industrialsecurity (https://www.siemens.com/industrialsecurity)
Siemensproducts and solutions undergo continuous development to make them more
secure. Siemens strongly recommends that product updates are applied as soon as they are
available and that the latest product versions are used. Use of product versions that are no
longer supported, and failure to apply the latest updates may increase customersexposure
to cyber threats.

BusAdapter
BA 2xRJ45VD HA
2 x 10/100 Mbps RJ-45 ports, electrical, without retaining collar
Coated printed circuit boards (conformal coating)
Connection can only be established to another BusAdapter BA
2xRJ45VD HA.
Two-wire transfer function (variable distance) for establishing Ether-
net connections is also possible using cables that do not conform to
Ethernet (> 100 m, up to max. 1000 m). The distance that can be
covered depends on the cable quality.
You use the BusAdapter BA 2xRJ45VD HA to connect the
PROFINET to the basic device. To do so, fasten the BusAdapter BA
2xRJ45VD HA on the basic device with screws and plug in the
PROFINET connecting cable.
You loop through the PROFINET via the integrated 2-port switch.
The RJ45 ports automatically adjust to the respective connecting
cable (2-wire/4-wire/8-wire). The modules negotiate the data rate
that is possible with this transmission cable (10 Mbps or 100 Mbps).

Compatible basic devices
The BusAdapter BA 2xRJ45VD HA can be operated with the following basic devices:
SCALANCE XF-204-2BA
SCALANCE XF-204-2BA DNA
For information on which other basic devices support the BusAdapter BA 2xRJ45VD HA,
refer to the operating instructions of the respective basic devices.

Industrial Ethernet
NOTICE
The BusAdapter BA 2xRJ45VD HA can only establish a connection to another BusAdapter
BA 2xRJ45VD HA. The connection to a standard Ethernet connection is not possible.
NOTICE
Cable connection between two BusAdapters BA 2xRJ45VD HA
Use the same type of cable for the cable connection between two BusAdapters BA
2xRJ45VD HA. Infrastructure cables as well as patch cables in use must be of the same
type of cable.
If the cable type between the two BusAdapters changes during the transmission path,
signal reflections can occur at the connection site which can result in frame losses.
Note
Strain relief for the Ethernet cables
In order to avoid mechanical stress on the Ethernet cables and resulting interruption of the
contact, fasten the cables at a short distance from the connector using a cable guide or
busbar.
R-45 connector technology
The attachment to Industrial Ethernet uses RJ-45 connected technology with MDI-X
assignment.
MDI / MDI-X autocrossover
With the MPI/MDI-X autocrossover function, the send and receive contacts of an Ethernet
port are assigned automatically. The assignment depends on the cable with which the
communications partner is connected. This means that it does not matter whether the port is
connected using a patch cable or crossover cable. This prevents malfunctions resulting from
mismatching send and receive wires. This makes installation much easier for the user.
Note
Formation of loops
Please note that the direct connection of two ports on the IE switch or accidental connection
over several IE switches causes an illegal loop. Such
a loop can lead to network overload
and network failures.
Connection
5.3 Industrial Ethernet
SIMATIC BusAdapter
28 Operating Instructions, 06/2018, C79000-G8976-C472-01
Autonegotiation
Autonegotiation means the automatic detection/negotiation of the transmission rate and the
operating mode of ports at the opposite end. This makes it possible to configure different
devices automatically.
Two components connected to a link segment can exchange information about the transfer
and can adapt their settings to each other. The mode with the highest possible speed is set.
Note
If a port is set permanently to full duplex, the connected partner port must also be set to
full duplex.
If a port operating in the "Auto negotiation" mode is connected to a partner port that is not
operating in the"Auto negotiation" mode, the partner port setting must be fixed at 100
Mbps or 10 Mbps half duplex mode.
If you disable the "Auto negotiation" function, the "MDI/MDI-X autocrossover" function is
also turned off. Then use a crossover cable.
Pin assignment

Procedure
To assemble the PROFIBUS cable PB FC Standard Cable GP with data connector IE FC
RJ45 plug 4x2, follow these steps:
1. Strip about 6 cm off the cable using the stripping tool:
Place the cable in the stripping tool.
For 2-wire cables press the lever of the stripping tool forward up to the next to the last
setting .
To cut off the sheath, turn the stripping tool.
Keeping the stripping tool closed, pull the jacket and remnants of the shield off the end
of the cable.
2. Strip the wires with the stripping pliers:
To prevent a short circuit, about 5 mm of the wire insulation must be kept intact.
Make sure that the wire ends are not bent. If necessary, cut off the ends with a
diagonal cutter.
