No damage. 95@% SPRAGUE HIGH VOLTAGE ENERGY STORAGE CAPACITORS Type 205P HANDLING PRECAUTIONS In the testing or application of these capacitors, high-voltage safety precautions must always be observed! If voltage is applied to these capacitors, care must be taken to assure that they are properly discharged prior to subsequent han- dling. If the units are exposed to high voltages, a recharging phenomenon takes place after discharging. Before han- dling or use, the capacitors should be shorted by connecting a wire or other permanent short-circuit between the capacitor terminals for a period of not less than 3 hours. Because of the explosive potential of glass tubular capacitors under excessive levels of a-c voltage, Type 205P capacitors should not be used in a-c applications without specific written approval of the application by an authorized represent- ative of Sprague Electric Company. MOUNTING PRECAUTIONS Care should be exercised to prevent glass breakage when mounting capacitors. Capacitors must be mounted by sup- porting the capacitor body firmly.
