EMCORE’s Indium Antimonide (InSb) Hall/IC Precision Switch

EMCORE’s InSb Hall/IC is a fully integrated solid state switch, which is turned on and off by a change in magnetic
field applied vertically to the surface of the device package. Combining EMCORE’s highly sensitive InSb Hall
element with a high performance Hetero-Bipolar Transistor (HBT) integrated circuit on a single chip creates a state
of the art, cost-effective switch with performance specifications never before possible. Precise low magnetic field
switch points, narrow hysteresis band, consistent device to device performance, and robust operation differentiates
the InSb Hall/IC from reed switches and other Silicon based solid state switches.

The performance features of the InSb Hall/IC enable:

Larger operating airgaps
Smaller activation magnets
More predicable and reliable system operation
Reduced overall system cost
Low power consumption and robust operation make this switch ideal for
battery powered electronic applications such as cell phones, laptop
computers, pagers, and other portable electronic appliances.
Application of a magnetic field above BOP will turn the output ON, while
reduction in field below BRP turns the output OFF. The device will operate independent of magnetic field polarity.
High performance materials and state-of-the-art device processing ensures consistent BOP and BRP switch points
over temperature and from device to device.
