DESCRIPTION
TheTL7700Aseriesaremonolithicintegratedcircuit
supplyvoltagesupervisorsspecificallydesi-gnedfor
use as reset controllers in microcomputer and mi-
croprocessorsystems.During power-upthedevice
teststhesupplyvoltageand keepstheRESETand
RESET outputsactive (high and low, respectively)
as long as the supply voltage has not reached its
nominal voltage value. Taking RESIN low has the
sameeffect.Toensurethatthemicrocomputersys-
temhasreset,theTL7700Atheninitiatesaninternal
timedelaythatdelaysthereturnoftheresetoutputs
totheirinactivestates.Sincethetimedelayformost
microcomputersandmicroprocessorsisintheorder
of several machine cycles, the device internaltime
delayisdeterminedby an externaltime delayisde-
terminedby an externalcapacitorconnectedto the
CTinput(pin3).

Where: CTis in farads(F) and tdinseconds (s). In
addition,when the supply voltage drops below the
nominal value, the outputs will be active until the
supplyvoltagereturns to the nominalvalue. An ex-
ternalcapacitor(typically0.1µF)mustbeconnected
to theREF output(pin 1) to reducetheinfluenceof
fasttransientsin the supply voltage.
