The SSR is ideal for performing switchhook and dialpulse switching while the optocoupler performs ring detect and loop current sensing functions. The SSR is integrated on a monolithic receptor die by using a Smart Power BiCMOS technology. The SSR features low ON-resistance, high breakdown voltage, and current-limit circuitry that protects the relay from telephone line induced lightning surges. The optocoupler provides bidirectional current sensing via two antiparallel GaAIAs infrared emitting diodes. The optocoupler provides a minimum current transfer ratio (CTR) of 33% or 100%. The Telecom Switches are available in four different packaging configurations: an 8-pin, plastic DIP; an 8-pin, surface-mount gull wing for circuit board mounting; an 8-pin, S-bend gull wing; and an 18-pin, 2 mm high, small-outline package for use in Type 2 PCMCIA boards.
